Baby Stroller Purchase Considerations

!±8± Baby Stroller Purchase Considerations

You have a baby. Now you need a way to transport the little tyke all around the town, in shopping malls and in the park. You also need something to take them with you on walks around your neighborhood. There is a solution. This solution is a baby stroller. There are so many different types of baby strollers, where do you start? The first place to start is by knowing what the different features are that will be available on these strollers. Lets take a look at some of these.

If your arms get tired from being in the same position for long periods of time, you will want a height adjustable handle bar on the stroller. The handle can be adjusted either up or down. You can find the most comfortable position for you. After a while you can change the position of the adjustable handle on the stroller to prevent fatigue.

Depending on how old your baby is will depend on what type of stroller to use. You can get a stroller specifically made just for infants. But why do that when manufacturers make these things so they can grow along with your child. Why spend the money on 2 different ones when for a few extra dollars, you can buy just one. Some infant strollers will receive an infant car seat and can also be used as an infant carrier.

Next, make sure that your baby will stay put. The belt restraining system should keep baby secure in the stroller, but not let your baby be able to get out of the straps. You do not want to go for a walk and have your baby fall out on the sidewalk.

If money is tight, a used stroller can be used. Make sure it is in good working condition. Check every inch to make sure there are no missing parts. Run your hand all along the thing and see if there are any sharp edges that can injure your child. The restraining belts should not have any tears in them or be worn to the point of breaking. If this used stroller has a reclining back, make sure it reclines. Also make sure when you put the reclining seat up, it will stay there with the babies weight pushing on it.

Another thing to consider when purchasing a stroller are replacement parts. Are replacement parts going to be available if something happens to break. Are these parts going to be easy to install myself. A lot of todays strollers have the seat portion that can be removed and used in the car. All you need is an extra base. You do not want to spend you hard earned money on something that is not going to last or can not be fixed.

Consider your new baby stroller purchase carefully. Make sure it comes with everything you will need. If buying a used one, make sure it is in good condition.

Jogging With Your Child - What You Need to Know

!±8± Jogging With Your Child - What You Need to Know

Jogging is no longer an adult only sport. These days, more and more parents are hitting the pavement pushing their children in a jogging stroller. Running with a stroller is very different than running alone, and it can be a challenge to make the change from your usual routine. The comfort and security of both you and your child must be the top priorities. Follow these tips to help you make sure that the runs you take with your child go as smoothly as possible.

Purchase a high quality jogging stroller - Having the proper equipment to make sure the run is enjoyable for both you and your child is of great importance. The stroller should have a lightweight, stable frame, a large fixed front tire, a deep child seat with a padded, adjustable 5-point harness, a hand brake and rear brake, a storage basket and pockets, an adjustable sun canopy and a safety wrist strap. Each model has its own special added features, and remember, you get what you pay for.
Make sure your baby is old enough - Some jogging stroller seats can lie flat for infants, and several models now even come with an infant car seat adapter. However, stroller manufacturers usually recommend waiting until your baby is 6 months old to take him on runs, since this is usually when his neck muscles are strong enough to support his head. Some safety organizations recommend waiting until the age of 12 months, because the ride can be too jarring for the developing spine of an infant, even on smooth pavement. It may be best to put your jogging routine on hold for a while or get someone to babysit a couple times a week while you go out for a run.
Dress her appropriately for the weather conditions - Remember, you'll warm up because you're running, but she won't. Dress her lightly on warm days, use sunscreen (after the age of 6 months) and the stroller's sunshield. Consider using a product such as the "Cool Mee" Seat Liner by Meeno Babies (http://www.meenobabies.com), which wicks away sweat from baby and allows warm air to escape through high-tech fabric. Bundle her up in cooler weather, and on windy, rainy or snowy days, use a weather shield.
Keep your child comfortable - A happy child makes for a better run, so change his diaper before leaving home, and bring wipes, water and a snack with you. Books and small toys that can be attached to the stroller are also a great way to keep him occupied. And don't forget to stop for a second or two every few minutes to check on him.
Limit your runs to a reasonable length of time - You may be used to doing hour-long runs, but your child may start to get antsy after only 30 minutes. See how much she can handle after going out a couple of times, and then adjust if necessary. You can also gain an extra 30 minutes or so by going for your run just before nap time so that she falls asleep from the movement of the stroller. Be sure to cut the length of your runs on very hot or cold days, or leave your child at home with someone.
If you want to run in a race, stick to the rules - Some races allow jogging strollers, others don't. If at all possible, run without a stroller (it'll be more pleasant for you and the other runners), or find an event that is stroller friendly, and stay in the back. Keep in mind that running with a stroller slows down your pace, so you may want to go it alone.

Using a jogging stroller is a wonderful way to get out and move in the fresh air with your child. Following the advice above can ensure that your runs are lots of fun for the both of you.

Duallie BOB Stroller - Which Model is Best?

!±8± Duallie BOB Stroller - Which Model is Best?

If you're shopping for a Duallie BOB Stroller but do not yet know exactly which stroller to buy, or are not sure of the differences between the stroller models, here is some info that might be of some help to you, depending on your needs:

For jogger parents who need a multiple purpose stroller:  The Revolution Duallie is your best choice if you're definitely needing something that will function well either jogging or at the mall.  It has a revolving front wheel that provides excellent control and maneuvering even around tight corners - the wheel locks into place for forward motion, providing an excellent "jogging mode" that is safe and handles beautifully for jogging purposes.  The Revolution can be purchased with wheels that are made for better off road handling, or with aluminum wheels and smooth tires for onroad jogging.

For serious athletic joggers:  The BOB Ironman Duallie stroller is probably the best choice for serious jogging athletes.  It's approved by the Ironman Triathlon for training purposes and is the lightest of all the BOB Duallie strollers.  It features aluminum wheels with smooth tires for an ultra smooth ride for babies.  Even though it is the lightest of the strollers, it is quite strong and durable.

For off road joggers:  The BOB Sport Utility Stroller has polymer wheels with great traction for off road purposes.  It's a great stroller for parents who like to take their kids into the "great outdoors" all while getting in a good run.

For parents who want to get a full-body workout:  The Stroller Strides stroller is the "best of all worlds" for parents who not only want to jog, but also to get a great all-over body workout.  This stroller is designed after the BOB Revolution, and includes all the equipment and instructions needed for a workout from the "Stroller Strides" program.

Depending on your own personal needs, one of the strollers listed above should do nicely - and then some!
